Education and training for carers

If you look after someone you may find it hard to concentrate on your education or go back into the education system. But there are many ways to study which can be flexible enough to suit you.

Adult education

If you look after someone and you've been out of work for some time, you may decide the best way to find a job is by taking a training course.

There are many training courses available, so it's a good idea to decide first of all what kind of studying you want to do, why, and what qualifications you wish to get from the course. This will ensure you choose the best training course for the job you want.

You can choose to learn:

  • full-time
  • part-time
  • on-line on a computer or tablet
  • in the classroom
  • through a short course (these range from a few hours to a few weeks)
  • or for several years

There are plenty of courses that you can do, either purely for personal enjoyment or to gain a qualification. Find out more on our education pages.
