Celebrating International Assistance Dog Week with Hearing Dogs for Deaf People!

This week is International Assistance Dogs Week 4th – 10th August ’24 and to mark this, RBKC Customer Services had an incredibly special visit from Walter and Bertie - two charming Hearing Dogs for Deaf people with 2 staff from the leading charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People yesterday, Wednesday 7 August ‘24.  They visited the Deaf drop-in, in Kensington Town Hall, Customer Services, for a fun and informative session. What an amazing experience it was!

Staff and residents had the chance to learn all about the fantastic support available to those who are Deaf and have a hearing impairment. Hearing dogs for Deaf people are transforming deaf peoples lives, helping to maintain deaf peoples independence and safety, the hearing dogs are specially trained to alert the Deaf person to environmental sounds such as fire alarms; doorbells; telephone ringing; alarm clock; a knock on the door etc…Everyone that attended have all said they really enjoyed their visit.
