Are you interested in joining a public steering group to design ways to support people to attend their hospital appointments in North West London?
Helix Centre for Design in Healthcare are looking for 6 people to join a 'public steering group.' They encourage people from underserved populations to apply. They are running a 1 year project to help understand why people miss hospital appointments and to co-design ways to support people to attend. These ideas will be tested to improve the service at the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, to see if they support people to attend and therefore receive the care they need.
The project is being run by the Helix Centre for Design in Healthcare from Imperial College London and the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
What will you do?
- Attend a 1 hour meeting once a month in London (from March 2023-February 2024).
- Share your thoughts and opinions in a group.
- Respond to a few emails about the project or this can be done over the phone.
Background and experience:
- You must be over 18 and live in North West London.
- You might be well connected in your community and therefore be able to share issues around why people might not attend their hospital appointments.
- You do not need to have any experience of being on a steering group before.
Rewards and support:
- You will be paid £25 an hour to attend meetings.
- You will have travel expenses reimbursed (or get £5 expenses per online meeting for remote working).
- You will have any access needs supported.
- You will have a member of the team as a key contact.
What will you gain?
- You will have contributed to coming up with new ways to support people to attend their appointments, which we hope will improve health for people from underserved populations.
- You will learn about co-design and improving healthcare services.
- You will be connected researchers, designers, people working at the hospital and other community members.
