Westminster MIND new activities

New Year can bring new challenges, but with the right attitude Westminster and Wandsworth Mind can support service users to make positive steps towards their goals and aspirations whether this is help work towards a recovery goal; find meaningful activity or voluntary/paid work.

Westminster Mind Hub activities - All groups take place at Wandsworth and Westminster Mind, The Basement,  Hopkinson house, 6 Osbert Street, SW1P 2QU unless otherwise specified.

  1. Would you like to QUIT SMOKING this Year. Why not come along to one of our Kick It smoking cessation support groups (Westminter residents only)
    The group will comprise of 6 sessions offering free evidence based support to those who are interested in quitting smoking. You don't have to commit to anything, come along and find out more. The first session will be on 12th January 11am-12pm, and will run consecutively for 6 weeks thereafter.

  2. FREE 6 Week employment workshop (Open to Brent, Wansworth and Westminster residents):
    Starting Friday 12th January 2018 and will be held on a fortnightly basis 1- 4pm. 
    Come along and gain information on everything you need to know about finding employment and workplace skills development. - Learn about the different processes and stages of gaining employment, explore and discover your employment goals, learn how to write a CV and cover letter, gain top interview and presentation skills and learn what it's like to be a civil servant and work in different government departments.

  3. FREE Poetry in Mind workshop (Open to Brent, Wandsworth and Westminster residents):
    Starting Friday 18th January 2018 and will be held on a fortnightly basis 3 - 4.30pm.

    Come along to this fun social group where you will learn to explore and share your experiences and emotions through Poetry. The group will be facilitated by Akin (Experienced poet, WW Mind Volunteer and trained Wellbeing Coach).

  4. Music in Mind, a 10 week FREE music production course. Are you into music? Have you ever wanted to produce your own track but don't know how to play an instrument? This 10 week course will teach you the ins and outs of music production and Logic Pro X software and learn about the therapeutic benefits of exploring your creativity. See this poster  for more details.

With Community Partners - WW Mind work closely with many different organisations to deliver these exciting projects and events:

  1. SMART support people affected by mental illness on their path to recovery by offering FREE or low-cost activities. They are based at The Basement, 15 Gertrude Street, London, SW10 0JN. Find attached a copy of their activity calendar for January 2018

  2. The Abbey Centre is launching its new "Wellbeing Haven" programme on January 8th .
