Every year Westminster City Council join forces with partner organisations to hold the Tea Dance for Westminster residents aged 65 and over, free of charge. This is part of the Silver Sunday programme of events, although it has been running for far longer.

Last year the Tea Dance took place on Sunday, 9th December 2018 and was the 13th year running that the dance has been held in the magnificent Great Room of Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane.

As always it was a hugely popular event and 1,000 Westminster residents enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea while being entertained by the wonderful sound of the Red Stripe band. There was a performance from singer Lucy Clark and children from Danceworks International Ballet Academy gave a festive performance from the Nutcracker.

The Guest of Honour was The Rt Hon Baroness Betty Boothroyd.

For many years now the Tea Dance has been joined by Police Cadets who dance with the ladies – the cadets even take a dance lesson beforehand to ensure they know their waltz from their quickstep.

The Westminster Tea Dance is hosted by the Sir Simon Milton Foundation and supported by Westminster City Council. The event would not be possible without our sponsors Grosvenor House Hotel, Shaftesbury PLC and the Telegraph Group. Tickets are printed free of charge courtesy of Ricoh.
