The term person-centred support is one that is now heard frequently in the social care sector. With nearly 40 years’ experience, United Response has the expertise and an excellent track record in completely embracing this principle and puts you – and your needs, wants, hopes and dreams - at the heart of everything we do. We treat you as an individual and tailor our support and services around you - not the other way around. Our Way We Work framework puts you at the centre of your life and plans. We focus both on what is important to you – to do the things you want to do in your life - and on what’s important for you – to keep you healthy and safe.

Most importantly, instead of doing things for you, we work with you to support you to be as involved as possible in all areas of your life, whatever your level of ability. We have particular expertise in supporting people with complex needs and have pioneered person-centred active support and techniques including intensive interaction to enable people with even the most profound disabilities to be engaged in everyday activities. 90% of the people we support get involved in shopping for food and 83% help to prepare their own meals, for example.

All our support is organised and managed locally, with dedicated staff who will get to know you and how best to support you. As a charity we plough all our income back into providing the best possible support to each person we work with and local staff are able to draw on the support of national experts including inclusion, best practice, quality and health and safety teams.

We have developed a whole range of accessible tools and resources to help you to be really in control of your life and to be fully involved in designing your support. We will meet with you to agree a support plan that meets your needs and gives you choice and control and we will review this regularly with you to make sure that as your circumstances change we can change with you.
