Westminster Almshouses Foundation

The Westminster Almshouses Foundation provides warden-assisted sheltered housing.  They have forty one flats in Rochester Row; each has a sitting-room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. All are equipped with an alarm system to summon help in an emergency. Some ground floor flats have a small courtyard.

The minimum age for admission is sixty, although in practice those taking up residence are often older. Applicants must be resident in Westminster at the time of their application, have moderate financial assets, and be able to look after themselves. Priority is given to those not resident in sheltered housing.

They also can provide grants which are given in the fom of small one off awards of up to £500 to individuals who are low incomes and require white goods and flooring to set up new tenancies.
