Support in a crisis

Emergency mental health support

When you or someone that you care for is having extreme mental health difficulties, you may need help very quickly.

If the safety of someone with a mental health problem, or those around them, is at serious and immediate risk then contact the ambulance or police by dialling 999.

In an emergency you can also go to your local A&E Department.

Additional support for existing service users in Westminster and Kensington and Chelsea

The Single Point of Access (SPA) offers mental health triage for routine, urgent and emergency referrals, mental health sign posting, information and advice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days per year.

It incorporates the CNWL Out-of-Hours Urgent Advice Line (UAL) which provides out-of-hours crisis support and advice. 

If you (or someone you look after) become unwell and need advice or support then trained mental health advisers can help over the phone or contact other services for you if necessary.

Contacting your mental health support workers

If you already use local mental health services, your care plan should include details of what to do and who to contact if you are unwell during normal office hours, such as your care co-ordinator or key worker.

Contact your GP

If you are not currently under the care of local mental health services, you should make an appointment to see your GP (family doctor) who can refer you on for the help or services you need.

Call NHS 111 

This the first point of contact for non-urgent concerns and general health enquiries / information. The service is available 24 hours per day. 

Call telephone number 111 speak to someone at the NHS 111 service - they will answer any questions you have, and will ensure that you are put in touch with the right service quickly if they think your situation is more urgent.
