Rail concessions

The rail network is a fantastic way to get around and do and see things.

If you travel regularly by train then National Railcards offer excellent value for money, with savings of at least a third on rail fares.

The Senior Railcard offers reduced-rate travel for over 60s on most Standard and First Class rail fares, and also Advance fares as long as you book before you travel. It costs £30 but all fares are then discounted by one third.

To apply for a Senior Railcard go to any railway station with a valid UK driving licence, passport or birth certificate to prove that you're eligible. To buy online, you'll need a valid UK driving licence or passport.

Travel in London itself is free courtesy of your Freedom Pass

The Disabled Persons Railcard offers reduced rate travel for people whose disabilities make travelling by train difficult. You might qualify if you have a visual or a hearing impairment or epilepsy, or are in receipt of a disability related benefit.

The Disabled Persons Railcard also allows one accompanying adult to travel at the same discount.
